Exercise Myths Turned Around
Exercise myths are all around us and being passed on even more than the truths. They are wasting peoples time and hard work and need to be stopped. Here are some exercise myths and the truths that can be followed and implemented to turbo charge you to your health and fitness goals. Myth: Performing hundreds of sit ups a day is the best way to give you a visible six pack. Truth: Performing hundreds of sit ups a day will build great endurance in your abdominals but will not do much for building the muscle in size or burning the fat from around your stomach. ----------------------------------------------------------------*Exercise myths like this one is one of the reason why so many people don't get results in the gym* Myth: Cardio is the best for body fat loss. Truth: Cardio will burn calories while you exercise but as soon as you stop exercising you stop burning calories. Resistance training or extremely intense short bursts of cardio will not only burn calories while you do them but you get an after burn effect that carries on burning calories for a long time. Not only this but doing resistance training and building muscle will raise how many calories you burn at rest. Prolonged cardio will also cause stress to your body raising cortisol and lowering testosterone. This will result in more fat and less muscle. To learn how to build muscle and strength which will probably give you the best fat loss results as well click

---------------------------------------------------------------- Myth: Girls should avoid resistance exercises if they don't want to get 'bulky' Truth: Girls have 30-60 times less testosterone than men and they really can't build lots of muscle. If they do lots and lots of weight training and eat to put on muscle then at best they will start to look athletic, not bulky! ---------------------------------------------------------------- Myth: Burn fat from the back of arms by working the triceps, burn fat from the stomach by doing sit ups. Truth: You can not burn fat from specific areas of the body through exercise. Exercising a particular body part will not remove fat from that area! However by manipulating your hormones in a safe and extremely healthy way you can! To find out more click

---------------------------------------------------------------- Myth: Muscle will turn into fat if you stop exercising. Truth: Muscle turning into fat is as likely as bone turning into hair, they are two completely different things! If you lose a lot of muscle for what ever reason, then your metabolism will drop which will mean that if you eat the same as you always have you will store more body fat. It works the other way also, if you build a lot of muscle your metabolism will go up and you will burn more body fat. The secret really is just to build more muscle.
heres how.
---------------------------------------------------------------- Myth: You will get better fat loss results by exercising for longer at a lower intensity. Truth: On most cardio machines there is a little graph that explains how exercising at a lower intensity or hart rate will burn more body fat. This is partly true but mostly wrong. Basically if you are exercising at a lower intensity, a larger percentage of the calories you burn will be fat. However if you exercise harder you will burn far more calories over all which will mean more fat calories are burnt anyway! Would your rather have 60% of £100, or 40% of £500? You would have the 40% of £500 wouldn't you. Now just change the £ sign for calories and you see that by working harder and burning more calories overall is more beneficial. Not only will more fat be burnt on the whole with a higher intensity but you will get an after burn effect where you carry on burning calories for a long time after and you will also increase your fitness more. ---------------------------------------------------------------- *As far as exercise myths go, this one is the hardest to believe as it is true that less is more!* Myth: A good gym is one with lots of equipment, lots of T.Vs and a spa. Truth: A good gym has lots of space to perform body weight and free weight exercises in. All this exercise equipment is far less effective and in many cases is doing more harm than good. Find a good personal trainer, have a few sessions with them to give you ideas and technique help and then you are away. If you are in good health your program should contain lots of big movements like squats, deadlifts, lunges, press ups, bent over row, pull ups, jumps etc. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Read, learn and pass on these exercise myths so that you and everyone you know can make positive progress towards your goals.
